RUSTY ANDERSON
in Gothenburg, Sweden

On Friday June 11, 2004 the day before the Paul McCartney concert at Ullevi Stadium, there was a Beatles festival at "Trägårn" in Gothenburg. Rusty Anderson was there and played an acoustic set and signed his album "Undressing Underwater" afterwards.

Here is an EXCLUSIVE review about Rusty's show from "Macca Reporter" Freddie Garden.

Four good friends, Tommy, Erik, Lars and myself --also great fans of the Beatles and Paul McCartney & Wings---started out from Stockholm around noon on our way to Gothenburg to see Paul McCartney's Summer Tour 2004.

We started a day early cause there were festivities arranged the day before the show with tribute shows, etc. We landed in Gothenburg just after 7 pm. After having checked in at our hotel, we proceeded over to the club/restaurant Trädgårn (The Garden) a beautiful club right in the heart of the city.

When we arrived there, one of Sweden's most reputable Beatles cover bands Lenny Pane was playing there. The Swedish group Triple and Touch had joined them onstage for a few numbers including "Rain." Also the fantastic female singer Gladis Del Pilar surprisingly appeared and did "Drive My Car" with them all.

There was a short break, and up next was a special appearance by Rusty Anderson!

Rusty walked out onstage and started to do a quick soundcheck before proceeding with an acoustic set of songs from his solo album, "Undressing Underwater." He was sporting a brown pin-striped suit, white shirt with a pink flower pattern and some comfortable looking brown slippers/sandals to match the suit.

Rusty was very excited saying that this is the first time he is playing his own material in front of an audience.

He started out with the song "Electric Trains." A great song where he showed that he can really hold his own as a live artist.

Moving on to "Coming Down To Earth" a beautiful song with a great chorus. His falsetto: "I'm coming down to earth...," was great! The song has a "vibe" somewhere between an Elvis Costello lyric and a David Bowie chorus.

Next was "Damaged Goods" a nice song, but it not as strong as the two first numbers.

Rusty pulled a rabbit out of his hat by playing Bowie's classic,"Moonage Daydream" from the Ziggy Stardust album. A-ha a Bowie fan!!! Cool! He performed "Moonage Daydream" very well as it's a tough song so do acoustically.

Then on to "Hurt Myself." But the real hit of the evening was the last song, "Ol Sparky." He showed a great feeling performing the song, and it's a beautiful song with great melodic lines.

Rusty did a great one-man show, and the 300 to 400 people that were there, I think really enjoyed it. I know I did.

Here is the entire set list:

Electric Trains
Coming Down To Earth
Damage Goods
Moonage Daydream
Hurt Myself
Ol' Sparky

Undressing Underwater is available at cdbaby.com and rustyanderson.com
